So you’ve worked hard, you’ve selected your keywords, created your offers, flyers, advertisements, & programmed your SMS marketing offers to go out. Now you can just sit back & relax, sip that mojito, soak up the sun like a lizard, all that vitamin D, just seepin’ the rays man! WRONG! If that’s what you think it takes to succeed in this type of channel, then get out now. I can assure you it’s actually more complicated than that. “But it’s just text messages?”, you plead. I know, & if I could sit on the beach all day & forget about all my clients then I’d be the first to exclaim it. That’s simply not how this all works.
You must be just as engaged as your potential subscribers & customers. You must actively monitor your opt-ins & opt-outs. What are your coupon redemption’s? Are you offering it verbally to each & every customer that walks through your door? If not…WHY NOT!? Like I said, you can’t just sit on your hiny & expect to build a nice list of 1,000 people who want to hear from you every week. You need to be daring & try new offers, test things & see what works, what doesn’t. That’s marketing 101. You also must make sure that you schedule your messages in a very timely manner. By that I mean, sending an offer on the 1st, then sending your offer at least 7days later. I found that 2-4 times per month is optimal depending on your business. Going on vacation also means not forgetting about your SMS database. If you forget to message them for 30 days, do you really think they’re going to be engaged when you suddenly send them an offer? They might not even remember that they signed up to your list. Just remember there’s a fine line between too much & too little. You’ll know when you’ve gone too far by the rate of your opt-outs.
Now you know why I don’t recommend business owners take this challenge on themselves. I strongly recommend you contact a mObile marketing consultant to create & design a campaign that works for your business. Business owners are already busy enough without having to learn an SMS platform, create a whole campaign, & then program that campaign to make sure it runs smoothly. This is why I offer managed campaigns only. If you’re only doing appointment reminders, of course it is up to you & your office staff to log in & schedule them.
