CVS Uses SMS To Tell You: “It’s Ready!”

Well, we mObile marketers told you it was coming like the giant wave that it is & every week it seems to make us look…
so good!

Lauren Johnson from Mobile Commerce Daily writes:

[The SMS program from CVS/pharmacy notifies users when their prescription is ready to be picked up at their local pharmacy. Text alerts will be available at more than 7,300 locations in the United States.]

So, basically I can call in my order, tell them to notify me by Text message that my meds are ready?  Awesome!  I don’t know about y’all, but I always despised pestering them…”Is it ready yet?  NO? You sure?  Ok…Thanks.”  Not only will this save the customer time & hassle, think about the pharmacy that wastes lots & lots of time making phone calls.  That time saved can be utilized for more worker productivity.  Sorry, CVS pharmacy employees, you might have to clean out that shelf cabinet you’ve been putting off for a while.  It is after all, spring cleaning time!

[The company also recently updated its iPhone and Android apps to let consumers scan bar codes on their prescriptions to order medicine while on the go.]

Folks, this is a company that “gets it”, if you know what I mean?  Want further proof?

Lemme get this straight – CVS is giving you SMS notifications that you’re ‘scripts are up^, they’ve got iPhone & Android Mobile Apps where you can re-order ‘scripts, & they’ve got a nice mObile commerce website that you can also do some shopping from?!  This is what I call a dream client!  They are absolutely crushing it with mObile.

Hopefully, I will be able to convince the pharmacy down the street to do this with my mObile service.  If they put up resistance, I guess I can just show them what their largest competitor is doing.  If that doesn’t work, I’ll try a four leaf clover, or maybe even a tribal style drumming ceremony.  Hey, it’s been known to work…in movies!

    The SMS option is more convenient than the automated voicemail. The DIY aspect of the apps also is an advantage for consumers. Sign me up!

    Totally agree, I actually don’t like phone calls about appointments & notifications. You have to sit through a long message. There’s usually this dead air lag time in the beginning as well. I think I’m more visual so if I get to see it, it helps me. CVS is smart to give their customers 3 different ways to do the same thing: SMS, Apps, & mobile site. Actually, they’ll still call you if wish, so that’s 4.

    Sign up! And lemme know how you like their service. My folks are not gonna do it & I’m not on any meds so I have no way to do research.
